| Oct 7: A storm has already started in newly formed parliamentary special committee for electoral reforms after a statement by its chairman, Science, Technology and Innovation minister Maximus Ongkili (right), that electoral reforms coalition Bersih could not participate in the committee.Maximus, who held a press conference on his own announcing the decision, said Bersih was not a registered coalition.
Committee members have also questioned his statement that PSC would hold at least six public inquiries across the country beginning with Kuala Lumpur.

“The first meeting has yet to start, all the rules and procedures yet to be decided, the number of times to meet the public, all these were to be decided on Wednesday, but he has already decided by himself.

"Is this PSC a one-man show or a nine-member committee?" asked Krai member of parliament Dr Hatta Ramli (left) who is one of the PSC members.
PSC was estalished on Monday comprising of Barisan Nasional MPs and three from Pakatan Rakyat. PR is represented by PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, PAS Central Committee member Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli and DAP Youth leader Anthony Loke, while BN by Maximus, Alexander Nanta Linggi, Mohd Radzi Sheikh Ahmad, Dr Fong Chan Onn and P Kamalanathan.

Anthony meanwhile lashed out at Maximus saying Bersih had every right to present their views as they represented the people.

“Rejecting Bersih from participating is very inappropriate because PSC must be open to all. If this is his attitude, this committee is going nowhere,” he said.
