Guess who is Perkasa's guest of honour

Harakahdaily
TAKE A BREAK Oct 20: UMNO offshoot Perkasa will be having its annual assembly and Malaysians may finally be able to see its members gathering in large numbers, a sight many have been waiting for amid repeated yet-to-be-fulfilled claims of the group's wide following.

But the large crowd is not the only attraction promised by Perkasa's incorrigible chief Ibrahim Ali (right).

In what may possibly eclipse Ibrahim's much humoured fame, the Perkasa congress, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, will have a guest of honour, one who many Malaysians have not completely forgotten.

Where are all Gaddafi's women now?

Al Bawwaba
Oct 21: They say 'woman' is fickle, but Gaddafi changes his women almost as often as he changes his outfits (many times a day according to his former nurses) -  if reports of the high turnover in female security staff are anything to go by.

When his cards are down, where are his faithful female friends? Those Amazonian Guards said to take bullets for him and in service til death do them part with the Colonel. Out with the old, in with the new? Or maybe it a curious mixture of old, new and blood ties that last till his bitter end. It is hard to tell where female allegiances lie at this stage of Gaddafi's demise,  since stories of betrayal are rife and mixed in with tales of steadfast loyalty.

Allah is Calling: Menjadi asbab hidayah

Zainuddin Hashim

M'sian interest rate will be unchanged, or see a cut

PETALING JAYA: While most economists polled by StarBiz reckon that Bank Negara will keep the interest rate unchanged, there are others who think that it may be lowered to spur growth.
Citigroup Inc Singapore-based senior economist Zheng Kit Wei said in a report that there was still a 40% chance of a rate cut as he expected inflation to ease further.
“While budget measures should cushion consumption, sustained low levels of manufacturing activity could potentially undermine consumer demand, and there may be scope for Bank Negara to provide additional support to leveraged households with small overnight policy rate (OPR) cuts,” he said.
He expects the central bank to take a more “pre-emptive” approach to cut rate by 25 basis points, in view of the fact that inflation may fall below 3% by December.
