KOTA BHARU, 30 Nov: Tindakan tergesa-gesa kerajaan membentangkan Rang Undang-Undang (RUU) Perhimpunan Aman dan diluluskan semalam disifatkan sebagai tindakan terdesak bagi menghadapi kebangkitan rakyat. Ketua Pemuda PAS Kelantan, Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman berkata, tindakan Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak membentang RUU tersebut pada 24 November lalu merupakan langkah mundur ke bekalang. ”Hakikatnya RUU yang baru dilulus itu lebih teruk berbanding Seksyen 27 Akta Polis. Di bawah akta lama denda dikenakan sebanyak RM2,000 jika sabit kesalahan. “Manakala rang undang-undang yang baru diluluskan memperuntuk denda sehingga RM20,000 bagi kesalahan sama,” katanya di sini. Semalam parlimen meluluskan RUU Perhimpunan Aman biar pun ditentang hebat Pakatan Rakyat, Majlis Peguam dan pelbagai pihak lain. A teacher who admitted being drunk on a plane and groping a male air steward has been spared jail after a London court was told of her battle against alcoholism.
The Cape Times newspaper reported Tuesday that Katherine Goldberg, 25, was on a Virgin Atlantic flight from Johannesburg to London when she drank nearly 500ml of whisky and then made "strong sexual advances" to the man, grabbing his groin.
Last month, the South African woman, who is a teacher, pleaded guilty to sexual assault and being drunk on a plane following the August flight, but magistrates decided the case was too serious to be dealt with in a lower court.
