Melayu hak UMNO, Islam hak PAS?

Anwar Ibrahim: Return of a reformer

Anwar Ibrahim: Return of a reformerWhen the Kuala Lumpur High Court judge delivered a not guilty verdict in the Anwar Ibrahim sodomy trial, the former deputy prime minister was taken aback. Ibrahim, 64, told reporters after his release on January 9, "To be honest, I am a little surprised." The final scene of the 13-year politico-legal drama was over faster than anyone expected. Judge Zabidin Mohamad Diah took only two minutes to give his ruling, saying DNA samples used as evidence might have been contaminated and that he could not convict in the absence of other corroborating evidence.

Walk your talk and not talk your walk: Lessons still unlearnt by 'Big Mama' and 'Ah Jib Gor'

Walk your talk and not talk your walk: Lessons still unlearnt by 'Big Mama' and 'Ah Jib Gor'Again, our prime minister’s wife is in the spotlight. This time around, and like always before, Rosmah is making heads turn for all the bad reasons.
The widely reported holiday-cum-shopping spree she indulged in is making its round both in the local and foreign circuit. This consistent portrayal of a free-spending-mama story is not and will not do any good for our ‘First Lady’; definitely not for her man-at-the-helm of national governance; and without doubt it will only keep eroding Malaysia’s public rating.

Come on brothers and sisters, we need to band together to get rid of the BN!

Come on brothers and sisters, we need to band together to get rid of the BN!LET'S HAVE A PLAN! In recent months, many groups have risen to stake their claim on the reform movement now sweeping through Malaysia. No doubt, having more voices speaking out against injustice, corruption and promoting civil liberties is a good thing, yet too many heads singing their own tunes may in fact cripple rather than help the reform movement here, or anywhere else in the world. As they say, too many cooks spoil the broth.
The issue is one of coordination and cohesiveness of information. All members of the reform movement have to speak and think the same agenda. There is no point speaking of reforms when each component is on a different page and speaking in their own language.

Stop bullying the Chinese and stop frightening the Malays

Guan Eng: Stop bullying the Chinese and stop frightening the MalaysThe time has come to implement economic policies that are clean, fair, competitive and improves the well-being of the people as well as attract back talented Malaysians that can help transform Malaysia into a high-income nation enjoyed by all. What better time than the year of the water dragon to initiate such changes so that the coming general elections marks the new beginning that would be enjoyed by all Malaysians rich and poor by 2020.

Present policies which are corrupt, opaque with no open tenders and benefits only certain cronies would only bring Malaysia backwards. A good comparison is South Korea. In 1970, Malaysia’s Gross National Income(GNI) per capita was USD 380 as compared to South Korea USD 260. But 40 years later in 2010, Malaysia’s GNI per capita was at USD 7,760 while South Korea had exceeded us by almost 3 times at USD19,890 (World Bank)

BN is not forever, nor is Mahathirism: Malaysia already a worldwide joke

BN is not forever, nor is Mahathirism: Malaysia already a worldwide jokeThis past decade has seen Malaysian politics boil and simmer, simmer and boil again. All these are puncturing too many holes in the armour of our economy while steadily shredding at the seams of our social cohesion.
For how long will we continue to be battered by the politicians who are hell bent in their determination to hold on to power is even beyond the soothsayers prediction.
But as long as BN politicians are determined and resolute to remain in power at all costs – even at the expense of democratic principles, then this nation will only sink deeper into the gutters of a failed nation status.

'Ah Jib Gor' Najib is begging but no one is listening

'Ah Jib Gor' Najib is begging but no one is listeningEverywhere Najib goes, he keeps stressing the same message that it is "very important" for Umno and the BN to be re-elected in the next general election so that the party can deliver its promised transformation.
"I keep saying it is not unimportant to be re-elected. It is very important to be re-elected. For us to deliver the real transformation, we need to be re-elected," he said at the opening of a recent on "Politics of Economic and Social Transformation in the Era of Global Crisis.
