From 2009 to 2011, a 10-year-old boy was beaten, burnt and cut for stealing food by the family he stayed with.
The family of five, including the youngest child, 14, were arrested. Yesterday, the offending teen pleaded guilty to helping her mother to hold the boy while her mother poured cooking oil on him.
The Straits Times reported that two other charges of abetting her mother to burn the boy's back and neck with a hot ladle, and cutting his fingers with a pair of scissors were also taken into consideration when District Judge Edgar Foo called for a probation report for the teen. The next hearing will be on Jan 10, 2012.
