Selepas didesak, projek pengajaran 9 jam dimansuh

Harakahdaily

Fidlot: KMPP pula cabar Shahrizat letak jawatan

Harakahdaily

Menangi hati orang Melayu - Dr M

TPM dgn angkuhnya beritahu rakyat utk fikir apa mereka mahu tentang NFC

Hadi and Kit Siang to be DPMs when Pakatan wins, any problems with that?

DAP chairman Karpal Singh reiterated that PAS president Hadi Awang and DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang would be the deputy prime ministers of Malaysia when the Pakatan Rakyat wrests control of the federal government.
Hadi and Kit Siang to be DPMs when Pakatan wins, any problems with that?“Both of them are capable of bringing progressive development to the country,” Karpal told reporters on Saturday.
His comments are not new but the BN media has been keen to stir up trouble among the 3 coalition members - PKR, PAS and DAP.
Recently, DAP sec-gen Lim Guan Eng nipped in the bud further such talk by reiterating that Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim would still be prime minister even if the BN jailed him on manifestly fabricated sodomy and sex video charges.
The BN then turned its attention on the No. 2 post, hoping to create envy among PAS members and suspicion among the Malay voters with the news that Kit Siang - an ethnic Chinese - would get to sit in such a high post.

First Ananda, now Mirzan Mahathir named in Indian probe

As India goes full steam into an anti-corruption blitz, another Malaysian tycoon with connections to the highest places has been named.
Mirzan Mahathir, the son of former Malaysian prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, is the second prominent tycoon from the Southeast Asian country to be implicated in an Indian deal gone awry - this time with the Kakinada Port development.
First Ananda, now Mirzan Mahathir named in Indian probeHe follows hot on the heels of Maxis chief Ananda Krishnan, who was accused of having corruptly secured a stake in India's telecoms operator, Aircel.
The Ananda case had sparked talk that Malaysia's ruling BN regime was now sowing the fruits of its overly gung-ho business forays, depending on 'who they know' rather than 'what they knew' to secure huge foreign contracts.
Along with several other Malaysian tycoons including Vincent Tan, Francis Yeoh and Syed Mokhtar Albukhari, Ananda is regarded as being one of Mahathir's inner coterie of cronies.

Dr M warns: Najib too busy to "fix" Umno, while the Chinese are taking over

Former prime minister Mahathir Mohamad, who still wields a significant influence in Umno, is the latest leader to offer his views on the health of the party ahead of its much-watched annual assembly slated for early December.
Dr M warns: Najib too busy to "fix" Umno, while the Chinese are taking overWhile the 85-year-old Mahathir was careful to sheath his claws, it was clear he managed to say what he wanted to about Prime Minister Najib Razak's leadership of the party, for the edification of all members.
Najib is not the man to transform Umno. He doesn't even have enough time to do so, though no one knows what he is spending his time on. This appeared to be the gist of Mahathir's remarks in an interview with the Umno-owned Utusan newspaper.
“Umno became badly damaged when Tun Abdullah Badawi took over. Because he prioritised his family and there were so many corruption allegations. And everyone knew about his son-in-law’s involvement,” Utusan reported Mahathir as saying on Sunday.
“This damaged Umno has been inherited by Datuk Seri Najib Razak for him to fix. Umno needs time before it can become stronger. But Najib is busy and does not have enough time."

An uphill battle ahead for DAP

TUNKU Aziz Ibrahim raised eyebrows when he joined the DAP in 2008. It was a big coup because the Kedah-born Tunku Aziz comes with super credible credentials.
He was hailed as the Malay face of DAP in the new politics that had washed ashore after the 2008 general election.
An uphill battle ahead for DAPNow a senator, he still gets puzzled looks from the Malays about being in the DAP.
“Friends ask whether I have a real role in the DAP or if I am just a token Malay face. They can't believe I have a real role. But it's a somewhat circumscribed role,” he said.
Tunku Aziz speaks English like an English gentleman so that would be best interpreted as a minor and peripheral role in the party.
DAP had never felt the need to be apologetic about its image as a strident champion of Chinese issues until now, that is.
It is part of the government in several states, it holds the Chief Ministership in Penang and it is struggling to dilute its Chinese chauvinist image.

Desperate for image makeover, Taib Mahmud goes for Big Boobs!

Desperate for image makeover, Taib Mahmud goes for Big Boobs!
Chief Minister Taib Mahmud and PM Najib Razak have been trumpeting their economic policies in the light of plaudits given by an outfit called the Oxford Business Group..
Explaining the significance of the praises lavished on Sarawak and Malaysia by the Oxford Busines Group, the Chief Minister’s own website claimed that the publication “provides in-depth detail on Sarawak’ current economic outlook and what the future holds for the state”.

Which do you fear more? Hudud or Islamic State?

I was motivated to write this piece by a news portal reader who wrote this comment:
“Malaysians. You choose. DAP works with PAS. MCA works with Umno. So, what’s the difference? The difference is that the MCA is always selling out the Chinese. MCA supports BN-Umno's declaration of Malaysia as an Islamic state. But DAP only harps on Hudud which only affect Muslims, not Malaysia. Anything beyond this are all just fears and speculations. You fear Hudud but don't fear Islamic state? What a load of garbage by BN supporters!”
Which do you fear more? Hudud or Islamic State? He or she makes a lot of common sense. We can argue all we want until the cows (Oops! Did I say anything wrong?) come home over hudud and Islamic state and will never reach a consensus because Malaysia is a multi-racial country.
There is much logic and common sense in what the reader wrote.
MCA supports Barisan Nasional (BN)-Umno’s declaration that Malaysia is an Islamic state. Okay. Malaysia is an Islamic state.
Doesn’t a real 100% Islamic state include hudud, an Islamic criminal law?

Remember Dr M and vote for CHANGE in GE-13

Remember Dr M and vote for CHANGE in GE-13It's election time and every good Malaysian must use his right to vote in a government that cares for all. We have lived peacefully for at least 2 generations, some 3 and a few more than 5 generations. And these do not include the natives (or Orang Asli) who have been here always.
Although all of us were pendatangs (emigrants) at different stages, we were happy we were born on this land which gave us a sense of belonging and peace. To the outside world we were seen as a truly multiracial country, our propaganda was to be a multiracial, role model in harmony.

Ex-Young PAP member apologises for offensive photo

Former Young People's Action Party (YP) member Jason Neo, who caused an uproar online after posting a Facebook photo of children on a school bus with an offensive caption, has written an apology to the pre-school.

Guan Eng: Pakatan leadership to decide on Penang polls date

Lim said he did not want to short-change the people over the recently approved state Budget. — File pic
SERDANG, Nov 20 — Lim Guan Eng said today Pakatan Rakyat’s (PR) joint leadership will decide whether Penang will hold elections simultaneously with federal polls expected soon. Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim had said on Thursday that the state will likely not participate in the upcoming general elections if it is called before June next year.
“That is Tan Sri Khalid’s decision. Of course he has the prerogative to make that decision,” Lim told reporters at the DAP Selangor Annual Convention here.

ISA: Nurul Izzah dakwa Najib bohong

Let the people judge

NOV 20 — There is a new mantra in Putrajaya: when they are caught in a tricky or difficult situation, they say “Let the People Decide”.
There is a reason why Muhyiddin Yassin and Hishammuddin Hussein have suddenly become lovers of the public opinion. It is because they hope to end whatever debate is going on, to recoup their position and then hope that Malaysians forget about the particularly embarrassing event.
Muhyiddin caught at the centre of National Feedlot Corporation (let us not be mistaken: he is a central figure in this scandal because he approved the project), says that the public upon reading Shahrizat Jalil husband’s porous defence will not swallow the lies of the Opposition.
The DPM just wants to end the debate on an issue which can embroil himself.

Mahathir: Umno hadapi masalah cari pemimpin, dibayangi tanggapan korup

RM250m NFC award without Cabinet approval disturbing, says PKR

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — PKR questioned today how the government could award a RM250 million project like the National Feedlot Centre (NFC) project without Cabinet approval.
PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail (picture) told reporters today she was “perturbed by the fact that the Cabinet was not involved in making the decision in the first place (as the Agriculture Minister stated).”
“That gives a lot of questions as to how a disbursement of RM250 million of public money is done,” she said.
Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Datuk Seri Noh Omar denied yesterday that the decision to award the cattle farming project was discussed during Cabinet meetings.

9-hour policy should never have existed, says Teachers’ Union

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — The National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) lauded the government’s decision to do away with the nine-hour workday for school teachers, saying it was unnecessary and should not have been implemented in the first place.  Education Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (picture) announced yesterday that the project had been discontinued.
The deputy prime minister said the decision was made in order to allow the government to evaluate a study conducted on the project which first began with 19 schools in Malacca.
“There are a lot of reasons why the nine hour policy is not practical. Making it compulsory for a teacher to be in school for that long is not practical,” NUTP president Hashim Adnan told The Malaysian Insider today.

Dr M says Umno weak and damaged

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 20 — Umno has not made any effective improvements since Election 2008 general and is unable to garner support from Malays, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed has said ahead of the party’s general assembly at the end of the month.
The party’s longest-serving president was quoted by its newspaper Utusan Malaysia today saying Umno currently lacked good, credible leaders and that it was a pale shadow of its former glory.
“Umno became badly damaged when Tun Abdullah Badawi took over. Because he prioritised his family and there were so many corruption allegations. And everyone knew about his son-in-law’s involvement,” he said, referring to Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin.
“This damaged Umno has been inherited by Datuk Seri Najib Razak for him to fix. Umno needs time before it can become stronger.
