Akhirnya Najib akui demokrasi negara pincang

KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Sept: Perdana Menteri, Datuk Seri Najib Razak akhirnya "mengakui demokrasi negara selama ini tidak berfugsi", kata Ahli Jawatankuasa PAS Pusat, Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad.

Beliau berkata demikian sebagai memberi respon awal terhadap pengumuman yang dibuat Najib dalam Perutusan khas Hari Malaysia yang disiar secara langsung oleh RTM malam ini.

"Selepas 5 desawarsa, Najib akhirnya mengiktiraf demokrasi di negara ini tidak berfugsi," katanya kepada Harakahdaily.

Mansuh ISA: Kerajaan didesak mohon maaf

KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Sept: Ekoran pengumuman perdana menteri malam ini bahawa Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA) akan dimansuhkan, Naib Presiden PAS Salahudin Ayub mendesak kerajaan memohon maaf secara terbuka kepada rakyat yang pernah ditahan dibawah akta zalim itu.

Bercakap kepada Harakahdaily, Salahudin berkata tindakan itu perlu kerana sudah ramai rakyat yang menjadi magsa akta itu sejak dari merdeka lagi.

Najib "tunduk" tuntutan Buku Jingga

KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Sept: Biarpun pengumuman perdana menteri malam ini dialu-alukan, namun hakikatnya ia adalah menciplak janji Pakatan Rakyat seperti dimuatkan dalam Buku Jingga, kata Ketua Penerangan PAS Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

Malah katanya, tawaran perubahan Pakatan Rakyat lebih luas berbanding beberapa perubahan yang telah diumum Datuk Seri Najib malam ini.

Minimum wage of RM1,500 in Selangor from next year

Sep 15: Starting next year, every state civil servant will enjoy at least RM1,500, as part of the minimum wage policy being implemented by the Selangor government.

Announcing this today, the state government said the minimum wage was part of Pakatan Rakyat's three-year plan (2011-2013) to be launched Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim tomorrow.

COMMENT Dr. Zainal Kling together with National Professors’ Council (MPN), which claims up to 1500 members, recently argued that Malaysia was never colonized by the British. As reported in Malaysiakini and Berita Harian, Their argument in essence reads as follows:

1. Malaya was a British protectorate, not a colony.
2. But the British did have administrative powers in the fields of finance and the exploitation of Malaya’s natural resources.
3. Despite this, Zainal (left) still maintains that Malay sovereignty (kedaulatan Melayu) was still protected.
4. Therefore, what is now Malaysia (with the exception of Malaka and Penang) was never colonized by the British.

Nik Aziz laments UMNO's silence over Merdeka denial

Sep 15: PAS Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat (right) said he was still waiting for UMNO's response to the statement by National’s Professor Council's Dr Zainal Kling that the country had never been colonialised by Britain.

Zainal, a member of the Council, lending support to media attack against PAS's Mohamad Sabu over his call to revisit the country's British-friendly history, raised eyebrows when he declared that Malaya's status as a British protectorate meant that it had never been colonised, despite being under British control.

Angola: Huambo air force plane crash kills generals



A plane crash in Angola has killed 26 people, including three army generals, a government official has told the BBC.
Luis Caetano, the spokesman for the Huambo provincial authorities, said the military aircraft crashed after leaving Huambo city airport.
He said six people had survived the crash, including the pilot and co-pilot.

The portal quoted Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim as saying the prime minister’s speech would be carried live by TV1 and TV2 at 8.45pm tomorrow and that other television stations had been approached to follow suit.

Saya bersyukur atas anugerah hak asasi Hellmann- Hammett bagi tahun 2011.

Pemberian anugerah ini merupakan satu sokongan penting untuk saya dan tepat pada masanya untuk saya meneruskan usaha menentang penapisan dan pelanggaran hak asasi melalui karya-karya saya.  Kerana itu saya berterima kasih kepada Yayasan Hellmann-Hammett dan Human Rights Watch atas pemilihan saya sebagai salah seorang pemenang dari 44 pemenang bagi tahun ini.

Saya gembira menjadi orang Malaysia pertama yang memenangi anugerah ini sejak ia diperkenalkan 22 tahun lalu.

K'rjn PR Kedah mungkin terkubur

Kerajaan Pakatan Rakyat negeri Kedah yang didominasi PAS, nampaknya belum memahami maksud pepatah Cina ini.  Walaupun pilihan raya umum 8 Mac 2008 menyaksikan bagaimana Kedah ditawan oleh pembangkang, dengan bantuan undi bukan Melayu, namun kerajaan PR tidak akur kepada suara rakyat setelah berkuasa.
Dasar berbau "perkauman" yang terpesong dari pendirian PR, malah memperlekehkan masyarakat Cina digubal, mencetuskan kekecewaan dan kemarahan komuniti Cina tempatan.
