19: PAS's Dzulkefly Ahmad has urged former UMNO strongman Dr Mahathir
Mohamad to push prime minister Najib Razak to act against his deputy
Muhyiddin Yassin and Wanita UMNO chief Shahrizat Jalil (pics, left) over the duo's involvement in the RM250 National Feedlot Corporation scandal.
Amid
calls from within UMNO which include a statement by Mahathir urging
Shahrizat to quit her cabinet post, the role of Muhyiddin, the
Agriculture minister when the project was awarded to Shahrizat's family
in 2007, has been by and large ignored.
Dzulkefly, who is also
PAS central committee member said Mahathir as the former prime minister
would certainly have deep insight and knowledge of UMNO leaders’
involvement in the pursuit of wealth.
“If he wants Najib to make
transformation, then the scandal must be investigated transparently
without any protection,” the Kuala Selangor member of parliament told Harakahdaily.
Last
week, PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and information chief Tuan
Ibrahim Tuan Man called on Muhyiddin to resign alongside any action
taken against Shahrizat, who was brought back to the cabinet as the
Women, Family and Community minister despite losing her Lembah Pantai
parliamentary constituency in 2208 to newcomer Nurul Izzah Anwar.
Meanwhile,
it has been reported that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission was
investigating Shahrizat’s role in NFC to find out if she influenced,
took part in the project or had a hand in the loan awarded to NFC, of
which her husband is the executive chairman. The report contradicted the
Commission's earlier statement saying the NFC case should be referred
to the police. |
