PKR says SMS work of UMNO, urges supporters to avoid provocations

Dec 27: PKR has rubbished talks that the party was planning chaos on the streets and denied any involvement in the circulation of a short mobile message urging members to gather in Kuala Lumpur on January 9.

January 9 is the date fixed by the High Court to announce the verdict of the sodomy charge facing PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement to Harakahdaily, PKR secretary general Saifuddin Nasution (pic) said the SMS had even used his name by claiming that he had issued a circular directing all party members to attend.“I strongly deny that there is such instruction, and I am confident that this is another malicious slander by UMNO, which is frightened by each passing day with the people's uprising against tyranny and greed to rob the country’s wealth,” said the Machang member of parliament.

Saifuddin said it was "UMNO's DNA" to spread lied and slander in order to destabilise the country for political survival.

He urged those who will be present at the Jalan Duta High Court on January 9 to show support to Anwar to gather peacefully and obey instructions from security personnel, and not to be provoked by irresponsible parties.
