Flats get paint makeover at 70% less than BN's price tag

Dec 30: The Selangor state government has completed the repainting of the Samudera flats at a cost of RM360,000, seventy percent lower than the RM1.2 million allocated by prime minister Najib Razak for the same purpose.

Najib had, a day after tabling the budget this year, gone on a road show to four towns in the state in a bid to highlight goodies that the government had prepared for the coming year.
One of these was a pledge of RM1.2 million to repaint the flats in Taman Sri Gombak, Gombak.
“I don’t know why UMNO is still politicising the issue. This issue is gone after Selangor state government provided RM360,000 for repainting recently during the Program Ceria launching ceremony,” said Gombak PAS chief Salehuddin Mohd Nasir.

On why the allocation set aside by the Federal government was much higher, Salehuddin said: “Maybe the paints are imported ... to help the people."
He explained that the state government agreed to pay 80 percent of the RM360,000, the balance being paid with help from Gombak Setia state assemblyman's service centre, local committees and the Selayang Municipal Council.
