Shahrizat is 'cow minister of the year', declares PKR's Zuraida

Shahrizat is 'cow minister of the year', declares PKR's ZuraidaPKR Women's chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, never known to pull her punches, ticked off her Umno counterpart for not being intelligent enough to comprehend the difference between sodomy and financial corruption.
“It is shameful and reflects the typical Wanita Umno mentality. This is the wrong analogy, sodomy and the abuse of public funds. She really deserves the title of cow minister of the year,” Zuraida, the Ampang MP, told a press conference on Wednesday.

Shallow thinking
At the Umno Women's meet, Shahrizat had smiling and 'delicately' tried to gloss over her corruption allegations in the RM250 million NFC financial debacle by demanding that if she were to resign, so too should PKR president Wan Azizah.
Slightly shallow, but her line of thinking appears to have been that, why should she resign if it was not her who was involved in the police investigation over the NFC debacle but her husband. If she had to quit, then why not Azizah, whose husband Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim is facing trial on manifestly trumped-up charges of sodomy.
However, it is not just PKR - although the party was at the forefront of exposing the scandal - but BN lawmakers who have also called for Shahrizat to step down.
The NFC contract was granted to her family in 2006, and it would boggle the mind to imagine that her husband and children could have won the tender if not for her position as Wanita Umno deputy president.
The NFC is a national cattle livestock breeding project, and her family has no track record in such an industry, which is new in Malaysia.
Sunk to the level of defending corruption
Yet Shahrizat glibly told the Umno congress this morning.
“I have nothing to do with it, why ask me to resign? Today, I challenge all PKR Wanita members to call for Wan Azizah’s resignation because of her husband, who has been punished and charged for offences that cannot even leave my lips,” said Shahrizat, who was once a prominent lawyer.
Several Umno delegates were tasked to defend her, and Umno Youth - whose chief Khairy Jamaluddin is alleged to been the one who decided to award the project to her - even vowed to defend her, rather than call for her to come clean until the corruption case was fully probed and her innocence properly established.
"Yes, Umno is setting such a bad example to the people especially the youth. Imagine, they have reached the stage where they defend corruption! It is really out of control," Zuraida told Malaysia Chronicle.
Shahrizat to 'go' first

Zuraida also warned that although Umno for the sake of its public 'face' might defend Shahrizat, Khairy and Puteri chief Rosnah Rashid Shirlin, the writing was on the wall for all three.
Shahrizat in particular is expected to announce her decision to step down before GE-13 so as to "boost the BN's chances".
“The real judge is the public who will vote soon. Now they will judge not just the Wanita Umno chief but all parties in Barisan Nasional,” said the straight-talking, no-nonsense PKR Women's chief, who once publicly advised Prime Minister Najib Razak to "control" his wife, Rosmah Mansor, for her spendthrift and megalomaniac ways.
