Leave kids out of politics

KUALA LUMPUR: Politicians have been urged to leave children out of politics as they are minors and should not be dragged into the political game.
Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said it was her principle that children should be left out of politics, adding: “There are so many other issues to talk about.”
Commenting on a blogger’s allegations that Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng’s son was transferred out of his former school due to an offence, the Women, Family and Community Development Minister said any form of allegations should be backed by facts.

“Firstly, before you make allegations against anybody, check (your facts) first. I would like to call upon all politicians, both from the Government and opposition – to leave the children out of politics,” she said after opening the Commuter Family seminar in the Seri Pacific Hotel here.
DAP chairman Karpal Singh called for a police investigation to get to the bottom of allegations against the 16-year-old boy that were circulating on the Internet recently.
“The spreading of lies on the Internet should be nipped in the bud before it develops into a ready avenue to defame and destroy,” he said in a statement.
“The bloggers responsible for the vile postings on their blogs must be brought to book to ensure that they are not further emboldened to persist in their path of destruction,” he added.
Karpal also called upon Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to personally intercede in the matter.
“As a father, the Prime Minister, no doubt, can imagine the agony suffered by the Penang Chief Minister.
“For matters of such serious concern, there should be no consideration of political affiliation,” he said.
