Oct 24: PAS Youth has sent a memorandum in parliament urging the setting-up of a Royal Commission of Inquiry to investigate the abuses in the issuance of Malaysian identity cards to foreigners.
The memorandum was handed over by its head Nasrudin Hassan (pic) to minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nazri Aziz through Kubang Kerian member of parliament, Salahuddin Ayub, this afternoon.
Nasrudin claimed that the wing had evidences to show that 170,818 voters registered listed under second quarter of the 2011 electoral roll have the code “71” in their identity cards, which is not an official code.“PAS Youth regards the code 71 as representing citizens whose country of birth is not clear,” he added.
Out of 170,818, said Nasrudin, 42.23 percent or 72,742 voters are Chinese and 17.33 percent or 29,605 voters are Indians.
Among the group, the Indonesians made 7468 people, and were listed as Indonesian (4,942), Bugis (1,356), Jawa (872), Banjar (240) and Boyan (58), said Nasrudin.
Arranged according to states, Nasrudin said Selangor was the highest at 29,758, followed by Johor (28,164), Federal Territory (17,548), Perak (16,680), Kelantan (15,345), Penang (12,799), Sarawak (9,324), Sabah (8,590), Melaka (8,069), Negeri Sembilan (7,516), Pahang (6,495), Kedah (5,793), Terengganu (3,313) and Perlis (941).
“This means that Pakatan Rakyat states including Perak and Federal Territory have 57.32 percent or 97,923 voters whose places of birth are not clear, which means they are a substantial number to bring down the present ruling governments,” said Nasrudin.
He added that the evidences obtained by PAS Youth could expose the weaknesses in NRD’s work, which are then exploited by those seeking to manipulate its data. |
