Oct 20: Pakatan Rakyat has condemned the distribution of leaflets as well as a fake edition of its Orange Book believed to be masterminded by quarters aligned to UMNO and Barisan Nasional.
PKR de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim lashed out the act as 'cowardice' and described those behind their distribution as uncivilised.
"They use the nation’s money to spread slanders and lies, they even make a fuss about the size of my belly,” said Anwar, in reference to the pornographic video distributed by UMNO blogs and leaders, showing a man resembling him engaging in sexual acts. Anwar had denied he was the man in the video, and among others said the man in the video spotted a larger belly than his.
Beside the fake Orange Book copies, the leaflets ridiculed PR leaders and dedicated a whole section praising the prime minister’s wife Rosmah Mansor as a role model of welfare and prudent spending.
Najib-Anwar debate?
"I don’t want to cite this (fake Orange Book) as a problem, but they use this book like our Orange Book," said Anwar, who repeated his call for a public debate on the Orange Book, economy and the 2012 Budget.
Meanwhile, think-tank Akademi Pak Sako has openly volunteered to organise a debate between Anwar and Najib Razak on November 3, at University of Malaya.
"We hope both leaders are prepared to accept our invitation. Hopefully, the debate will go smoothly and in a civilised manner for the good of the people," said a statement on its blog. |
