An act of cowardice: Anwar on Rosmah and hubby's reluctance to come

Sep 22: Parliamentary Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim (right) has slammed Rosmah Mansor and her husband Najib Razak's application to set aside a subpoena for them to appear as witness in the ongoing sodomy trial as an act of cowardice.

“Najib’s attempt to set aside subpoenas served on him and his wife is an act of cowardice and contradicts whaveter they said earlier.Prior to this, Najib had said he would attend court to give his statement

"But now Najib chooses to retreat before fighting," said Anwar, who said the UMNO president was a witness in the conspiracy against him.

The couple filed the application to set aside the subpoenas yesterday. The Kuala Lumpur High Court would hear the application on September 29.

On what he thought was the reason behind Najib's reluctance to be present, Anwar said: “I don’t know why, in fact he said he was not involved when everyone knows that he met (accuser) Saiful before Saiful claimed he was sodomised.

"It is important for us to get details on his involvement and the main reason he met Saiful,” said Anwar.

In 2008, Najib, the then deputy prime minister, denied he had met Saiful Bukhari Azlan, but later admitted he met the sodomy accuser at his residence several days before Saiful's police report against Anwar.
