BN urged to name new Perak MB amid talk of Zambry's way out

Dec 2: Speculation is rife that Zambry Abdul Kadir, the present Perak Menteri Besar who replaced Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin when the PR government collapsed following a spate of defections, may not be re-appointed to the post in the event BN is able to hold on to power after the coming general election.

WHO'S THE MB MATERIAL FOR BN? ... Clock wise from top-left, Zambry, Zahid, Manaf and Ahmad Husni

According to a source, several replacements have been proposed, including former MB Tajol Rosli, deputy chairman of Perak UMNO Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah, UMNO vice president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Bruas UMNO division chief Manaf Hashim, all of whom were said to be close to prime minister Najib Razak.

The well-placed source also pointed out that rumours of Zambry's way out were being intensely circulated among state civil servants as well as Perak-based UMNO political blogs.
Commenting on the matter, deputy head of Perak PAS Youth Raja Ahmad Al-Hiss urged the state UMNO leadership to name its candidate for MB.

"Will Tajol Rosli return to head Perak UMNO? Or will the deputy chair Ahmad Husni be named to replace Zambry?" he asked.

49 year old Zambry, the Pangkor assemblyman, was appointed as the Perak MB in May 2009 following the months-long political crisis in the state sparked by a spate of defections among PR state representatives.

According to Raja Ahmad, Najib had yet to finalise the candidate for Perak's next MB.

Saying Pakatan Rakyat had long decided to reinstall ousted MB Nizar, Raja Ahmad said the people of Perak were awaiting BN's candidate for the number one post.
