Solat Sunat Dhuha

Umno's brand of sex and money politics: How Islamic is it?

Written by  Moaz Nair

From Port Dickson to Terengganu, Malaysians have been incessantly sated with juicy sex stories.  Some of these stories are made up of genuine ingredients that could perhaps be turned into thrillers but some others are void of the right constituents and evidence as they were  intentionally cooked up for political expediency.
Umno's brand of sex and money politics: How Islamic is it?In any case, Malaysian politics is always spiced with a lot of sex recipes for the people to devour. The sex prescription seems to be very popular among some self-seeking politicians to grab on or stay in power. In most cases, however, the one and only purpose of staging sexual plots on politicians is to debase their political career. This ploy has become a political cliché in Malaysian politics. The people on the street, though, are cheesed off with this kind of grubby approach to politics. They are much chagrined as to how one could even be appointed as senator just because the person keeps boxes of sex secrets or he spews out sex venoms to implicate a political  enemy.
Despite all the drumming and brouhaha by the political rejects and the pro-government media  on sex and politics, the people have become profoundly immune to the ploys and they cannot be easily swayed by this modus operandi.  “It is an absolute disgust to keep on hearing about this on television or read them in the daily,” said a university lecturer from IIUM.

Nik Aziz says 'evil' of Awang Adek to snub royalty poster

Harakahdaily
Nov 16: For refusing to join the state's ongoing campaign to pressure the Federal government pay the oil royalty, UMNO's Kelantan-born Awang Adek Hussin (right) drew a sharp rebuke from Kelantan Menteri Besar who described him 'evil'.

Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat was responding to the refusal of the deputy Finance Minister to accept a poster which carries the late Tun Abdul Razak's statement in parliament in 1975 promising every state in the Federation oil royalty for oil drilled within state territories.

Kelantan exco and PAS vice president Husam Musa, who heads the State Petroleum Royalty Claims committee, handed over a copy of the poster to Najib Razak, to remind him of his late father's stand on the matter.

NFC: Mahfuz wants Muhyiddin to bare all

Harakahdaily
Nov 16: Deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin (right) must come clean over his role in the saga involving embattled National Feedlot Corporation, during his tenure as the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry minister in 2008.

“Why the silence?” questioned PAS vice president Mahfuz Omar.

Muhyiddin under whose tenure then had awarded the project to the family of Wanita UMNO head Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, had earlier defended her after BN's Kinabatangan member of parliament Bung Mokhtar called for her resignation.

“He (Bung Moktar) didn’t say directly that Shahrizat is involved because this is a business that is run by her family, but she is not involved. Whether it is right (to call for resignation) Bung Moktar can think for himself,” said Muhyiddin.

BBC ‘cheap programming’ scandal exposed

The Independent
LONDON, Nov 16: The BBC has owned up to a “nominal fee” programming scandal in which viewers of 15 editorial programmes were hoodwinked by “serious” conflicts of interest of programme makers and a failure to declare that documentaries had outside sponsors.

The programmes were made for “low or nominal cost” but many were heavyweight documentaries on controversial environmental issues and the BBC Trust, the corporation’s governing body, said today it was “deeply concerned” by the findings.

ANAK challenges minister to prove claim over Felda listing

Harakahdaily
Nov 16: Whistleblower group Felda Settlers’ Children Association  or ANAK has challenged minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Ahmad Maslan to prove his claim that the listing of Felda Global Ventures Holdings (FGVH) on Bursa Malaysia would not affect settlers’ lands.

“I challenge him (Ahmad) as a responsible minister to deny it, as we have evidences to show that among the assets to be sacrificed is Felda Plantation’s 360,000 hectares of land,” said ANAK chairman Mazlan Aliman at the parliament lobby yesterday.

Amid growing skepticism among settlers in the listing plan, Ahmad had assured Felda settlers that they would stand to gain with FGVH's listing by mid-2012.
